ABVP condemns screening of documentary on Umar Khalid at NALSAR

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a unit of Greater Hyderabad, on Friday condemned the unauthorized screening of the documentary film Prisoner No. 626710 is Present, focusing on activist Umar Khalid, at the NALSAR Law University campus on September 23 (Wednesday). In its statement, the ABVP expressed concern over the use of educational facilities for what it termed as political propaganda.

The ABVP argued that such projections on university premises could turn campuses into platforms for political propaganda instead of spaces for academic discussion and debate. Since the action was not sanctioned by the NALSAR administration, it said it submitted a statement to the Vice-Chancellor, NALSAR, through email and sought an inquiry into the screening and appropriate action against those responsible. She stated that there has been no response from the Vice Chancellor so far.
