Abishek Porel faces arrest after Calcutta HC order in rape case; called the police to secure the facility

Abishek Porel (PTI Photo) The Calcutta High Court has ordered the police to arrest Delhi Capitals cricketer Abishek Porel in connection with a rape case and seize his electronic devices to prevent the alleged circulation of sensitive material related to the complainant. According to a report by The Indian Express, the court also asked the police to continue efforts to trace and arrest him as he has not been arrested so far.Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya, in an order dated July 14, said the police should continue their efforts to arrest the accused and recover electronic devices that may contain material related to the case.The order said: “In the communication dated 6th July 2026, it is stated that one pen/storage device has been seized from the petitioner… and it is believed that certain materials are stored in it… It appears that the accused persons… must be detained for seizing the electronic devices lying with them so that the data stored therein cannot be shared with others… “The communication dated 6th July, 2026 reveals the steps taken by the concerned police authorities to nab…(accused) but the fact remains…(they) are yet to be nabbed. The concerned police authorities are directed to continue their efforts to apprehend respondent No. 6 and 7 (accused) and ensure that the seizure of the devices stored there is not further inconvenienced.”An FIR was registered at the Mogra police station last month. The complainant accused Porel of establishing a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage, filming their intimate moments and later threatening her. The case also includes accusations of criminal threats and other crimes.According to the complaint, the two first met in 2023 before meeting in person. The woman alleged that Porel forcibly entered into physical relations with her and later continued to threaten her through phone calls, a companion’s Instagram account and another mobile number. The allegations have not been proven in court and the investigation is still ongoing.
