Abhishek Sharma decided to unveil a new celebration after scoring a blistering hundred against Delhi Capitals in Uppal on Tuesday, April 21. Abhishek played an uncharacteristic innings by his own lofty standards he started off in a somewhat subdued fashion before catching fire.
Abhishek scored his fifty off 25 balls, his second slowest in Hyderabad, before reaching his milestone in the next 22 deliveries he faced. However, it was his celebration that caught everyone’s eye. Instead of his L celebration, Abhishek stood there with his arms folded, a big smile on his face and his eyes fixed firmly on the SRH dugout.
As Abhishek remained unbeaten on 135 off 68 balls, he revealed that he was dedicated to James Franklin, who told him to stay at the crease throughout the innings.
“I just had a plan with Franky and he just wanted me to bat up to 20 overs. I think this is the first time I have bowled 20 overs. The wicket was not too easy. But if you play good cricket, they have talent in the team. You have to play well to defend it,” Abhishek said.
“ALWAYS SPECIAL TO SCORE FOR THE ORANGE ARMY”
It was Abhishek’s second hundred in Uppal after scoring 141 runs against PBKS last season. Abhishek said it was special to score another hundred for SRH fans.
Abhishek also admitted that he didn’t die much for batting as he specializes in the tough opening part of the innings.
“Obviously it’s always strange to perform against the Orange Army. The way they bowled in the death overs, I thought they were executing their plans. I think I haven’t practiced death batting much. But the way Klaasen played helped us get to that set,” Abhishek said.
SRH are chasing their third win of the season.
