Mumbai: Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan moved the Delhi High Court and was looking for the protection of his personality rights and claimed that dishonest websites used his name and image without permission.
This lawsuit, which comes the day after his wife and actor Aishwarya Rai, in a similar case, approached court, Judge Tejas Karia will be heard later during the day. Bachchan filed an appeal against the Bollywood Tee Shop website, which produces T -shirts of Bollywood celebrities.
The petition, filed against websites and other violers, claimed that the unauthorized use of his personality is part of the wider trend of online fraud using celebrities.
Bachchan’s request is looking for court orders to block the web and other perpetrators, eliminate URL violations, and instructions for intermediaries such as Google and YouTube to remove unlawful content.
He also asked Liberty to expand the order to the defendant “John Doe” – unidentified parties that may host similar violations in the future.
“John Doe” is a type of court order issued against unknown or unidentified parties. In the case of intellectual property and personality, the celebrity, brand or copyright holder allows not only known violators, but also future or unidentified perpetrators who can abuse their name, image or content.
Dhruv Anand, a record for Bachchan, claimed that the platform was selling goods and creating a misleading impression of approval.
This action comes at a time when several celebrities move the courts to prevent abuse of their personality.
On Tuesday, Aishwarya Bachchan filed a case against Aishwaryaworld.com and other violers and claimed that the unauthorized use of her personality is part of the wider trend of identity celebrities in online fraud.
Rai’s advocate Sandeep Sethi told the court that Aishwaryaworld.com falsely declares that her “only authorized and official website” is without permission.
Sethi said the platform has published personal data, unauthorized images, and even selling goods such as T -shirts £3 100 and mugs representing its appearance and create a misleading impression of confirmation.
Sethi called it a “derogatory, slander and direct attack” on Rai’s dignity.
Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff protected the earlier decision of the Delhi High Court in similar cases.
