A car parked under a railway bridge at Nimboli Adda in Kacheguda sparked panic on Thursday evening after locals suspected it contained explosives. The incident, which occurred around 7:30 pm, led to heavy traffic jams on both sides of the road, just days after the Delhi Red Fort blast heightened public concern across the country.
A Kachiguda police officer said that an unknown man parked a gray car TS 11UA 7868 across the road and left the spot.
The locals, who found the situation suspicious, alerted the Kachegud police. Officers immediately cordoned off the area and prevented anyone from approaching the vehicle. The bomb squad was called to the scene and after thorough checks confirmed that there were no explosives inside.
The car, registered to one Madaksir Feroz Khan, showed six outstanding challans worth ₹2,575 since May 2024, including five for wrong parking and one for speeding.
The police subsequently tracked down the current owner, Balaji Raghunath, who admitted that he had not updated the registration and had rented the vehicle to someone. “He claims he doesn’t know the details of the person to whom he hired it. We are investigating,” said a police officer from Kacheguda.
