The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday (Oct 21, 2026) alleged corruption in the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) in connection with the spraying of a deforming agent in the Yamuna.

AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj showed the setup installed by the contractor at the Kalindi Kunj ghat: “The container belonging to the company is marked ‘Defoamer Stock’, which means the tanks and all the equipment used to spray chemicals to defoam the Yamuna have already been prepared here. The engines, which are mounted on boats and have been in place for three days, have also arrived for the last three days.”

He claimed that the person who installed the installation told them that a DJB technician instructed them to start work here. “What is surprising is that Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has not even opened the tender. So how does DJB already know that this tender will be awarded?” he asked.

Mr. Bharadwaj argued that this clearly shows widespread corruption in the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), where officials already know who will receive the tender. “That’s why all the pumps arrived here before the tender process started. The entire tent assembly is in place and containers of chemicals used for defoaming have also been brought to the site,” he said.
