AAP accuses Congress of trying to weaken the CJP-led protest

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of trying to “undermine” the movement started by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan by staging a protest sit-in outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on the same issue. He accuses BJP and Congress of being a “unit”.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi questioned how Mr Gandhi was “allowed” to protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence while the CJP’s demonstration was suppressed. “This is amazing! CJP and Sonam Wangchuk: Protesting at Jantar Mantar for one month. Modi govt refuses to talk to them. Rahul Gandhi: Allowed to protest outside PM’s residence. In an hour Modi govt will start dialogue. Wah! Kya jugalbandi hai!”, Ms. Atishi said in a post on X.

In another post, she claimed that “the same Delhi Police who did not allow the CJP to move even 100 meters towards Parliament allowed Rahul Gandhi to get right in front of the Prime Minister’s residence! Do we need any more proof that Congress-BJP is one unit?”

Senior AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj questioned how the Modi government, which dismissed the CJP movement for a month and did not send anyone to Jantar Mantar, sent two ministers and two secretaries to meet Mr Gandhi after just an hour of protest. “Mr Rahul Gandhi does not want to be in Jantar Mantar. He wants people to join his protest of 100 people,” said Mr Bharadwaj.

Mr Gandhi was joined by other senior Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, along with other opposition leaders, in demanding Mr Pradhan’s resignation and police action against the protesting students before they were detained by the police.
