Delhi Police’s Operation Aaghat 3.0 is in full swing ahead of the New Year celebrations. A crackdown on illegal operations in the state capital targeting smugglers, drug dealers, gamblers and habitual offenders has led to more than 600 arrests by Friday.
On December 26, the South East District of Delhi Police arrested 285 accused under the Excise Act, NDPS Act and Gambling Act, dealing a major blow to organized crime, ANI reported. As many as 116 people were arrested under Bad Character (BC). The police seized 21 domestically produced pistols, 20 live cartridges, 27 knives, 12,258 quarts of illegal liquor, 6.01 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) and ₹2,30,990.
Delhi Police has busted an interstate gang of car jacks
In a post on X, Delhi Police said, “A team of @DCPEastDelhi’s anti-car theft squad killed an inter-state gang of car jacks in a major bust. Two accused persons were arrested. The operation led to the successful solving of eight cases of car thefts at various police stations in Delhi.”
Delhi Police recovers stolen phones
Delhi Police informed ANI that they have recovered 310 stolen mobile phones, 231 two-wheelers and one four-wheeler, while officers have detained 1,306 persons as part of precautionary measures. According to DCP South East Hemant Tiwari, this operation is a significant step to maintain law and order.
Elaborating on the details of the operation, the DCP said, “Ten property offenders and five car jacks were arrested during the operation. 21 CMPs, 20 live cartridges and 27 knives were seized. A total of 12,258 quarts of illicit liquor and 6.01 kg of ganja were seized. We also seized. ₹2,30,990 from gamblers along with 310 mobile phones. As many as 231 two-wheelers and one four-wheeler were secured or recovered.”
Delhi Police in Dwarka recovered and returned several stolen mobile phones using the CEIR portal.
She warned the public of any strange objects on the roads or streets, urged citizens to be vigilant and asked Delhiites: “Be your eyes, be your ears! If you see something out of place, call 112 and report it.”
“I am very happy to say that Operation Aaghat has been conducted in Southern and South Eastern districts of Southern Range to curb street crime and organized crime. About 2,850 people have been detained and interrogated and about 600 offenders have been arrested during the operation. Our operation has been very successful,” Delhi Police ally Sanjay Kumar Jain was quoted as saying by PTI.
