Aadhaar Update: The Unique Identification Office of India (Uidai) implements stricter rules for obtaining AADHAAR cards for Indians, in motion to make the identification card to be the most compropriated.
According to The Times of India, Uidai is set to engage in the online database – such as those for passport cards, assignment cards and birth and registry certificates – to log in adults and update the Aadhaar cards in an effort to access only citizens.
Aadhaar, published by Uidai, was originally conceived as evidence of identity rather than citizenship and allowed individuals to obtain one with minimal security control. However, recent measures are now ensuring that only adult verification can apply to a unique ID.
Uidai will step out the rules of Aadhaar
The new tool developed by Uidai adds the second layer of verification during the update or enrollment of the AADHAAR individual.
The new tool will access online documents, including driving licenses, PAN, MNRegs details and in the future, electricity accounts such as electricity accounts.
These documents ensure a homogeneous identity and are in line with the Centralized KYC directives.
The new tools used by UIDAI will only ensure that citizens get access to Aadhaar, even if Section 9 of the Aadhaar Act states that the document cannot be used to prove citizenship or residence.
Why does Govt perform stricter AADHAAR rules?
Over the past 15 years, Uidai has generated more than 140 numbers of Crore Aadhaar, including for a deceased individual. Now there is almost an adult saturation.
Since the infants were able to obtain Aadhaar soon after birth, the government decided to tighten standards to get it.
“For every illegal immigrant, it will now be difficult to obtain Aadhaara,” said official Toi, indicating a clear shift from the relaxed rules to get ID in the past.
Previously, there were concerns about illegal immigrants who acquired Aadhaar and then used it to open other IDs. Now the rules are stricter and onus is in the states to ensure that no illegal immigrant can obtain or create a document.
According to toi sources, although illegal immigrants use Aadhaar to bypass the sir of electoral roles, they will not be able to use as a base to obtain other documents.
