An awareness program on women safety and cyber security was organized by the Adilabad district police on Monday as part of the ‘Police Akka’ initiative at the Government Junior College for Girls in Adilabad city.
Organized under the auspices of Adilabad Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan, the program was aimed at creating awareness about the specialized services of the SHE teams, Telangana Police’s women safety force, legal awareness and important provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO), 2012, police said.
In the last one week, 53 awareness programs have been organized at various places in the district under the ‘Police Akka’ initiatives.
Around 12 complaints were received, eight minor cases were registered and four counseling sessions were conducted under the initiative to curb teasing and harassment of women including girls, sources added.
According to the district police, women in distress can dial 100 or 8712659953 in case of trouble or emergency.
