A 24-year-old woman was killed after a car allegedly driven by a senior police constable rammed into her e-rickshaw, throwing it onto the road and subsequently crushing it, an official said.
The incident took place on Wednesday (February 11, 2026) evening near Kali Paltan Bridge in Ambala Cantonment. The deceased has been identified as Nikita Bajaj, he said.
According to the police, the woman’s impact caused her to fall to the road, after which the car went out of control and ran her over. She was taken to a government hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
Some eyewitnesses claimed that the senior constable was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. However, police said the matter is under investigation.
Some people present on the spot detained the driver and handed him over to the police. The e-rickshaw driver also claimed that the car was traveling at high speed.
