August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month, focusing on children’s vision and myopia. In this regard, The Hindu is hosting a webinar on Sunday (August 30, 2026) which is free for all.

The webinar will focus on refractive errors in children, particularly the growing concern about myopia, and explore whether increasing screen exposure and reduced time spent outdoors are contributing to changes in children’s vision. The discussion will also focus on early warning signs, the importance of early eye screening and measures that can help prevent or slow the progression of myopia.

The guest speakers for the webinar are: Vasumathy Vedantham, Ophthalmologist, Vitreoretinal Surgeon and Pediatric Retina Specialist, Radhatri Nethralaya, Chennai and Vasudha Kemmanu, Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist and Public Eye Health Specialist, Narayana Nethralaya, Bengaluru. The meeting will be moderated by Athira Elssa Johnson, Chief Reporter of The Hindu.
