The Hindu will host a health webinar on “Deteriorating Air Quality: Impact on Health” on Sunday (November 23, 2025) from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. The webinar is free for everyone.
In a one-hour session, leading clinicians will discuss how deteriorating air quality is reshaping India’s respiratory health landscape, with a focus on lung health.
In cities large and small, India continues to experience long periods of unsafe air quality. Doctors warn that toxic air is now among the most significant threats to lung function, contributing to an increase in cases of asthma, chronic bronchitis, inflammation of the airways and long-term damage to breathing.
The webinar will feature: Koushik Muthu Raja Mathivanan, Founder and Director, Chennai Institute of Pulmonology and Head of Department, Sri Muthukumaran Medical College; Janani Sankar, Pediatrician and Medical Director, Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital; and Priyanka Rana Patgiri, Consultant, Geriatrics, Apollo Hospitals.
In addition to clinical considerations, the discussion will highlight preventive steps, household safety measures, and policy actions necessary to promote respiratory health.
The meeting will be moderated by Athira Elssa Johnson, senior reporter at The Hindu.
