A wandering dog, who allegedly bit a few people near a new bus stand in Kanna on Tuesday evening, was found dead after the incident. Meanwhile, more than 50 people sought treatment in the Kannur district hospital for bite of dogs until the evening.
The trigger attacks caused the blame between Kannur Panchayat and City Corporation on the issue of a stray threat of dogs.
“The District Panchayat is not responsible for the administration of stray dogs. This falls under the jurisdiction of local authorities,” said Panchayat KK Rathhnakumari. “It is bad from the local bodies to move us after such incidents,” she added.
Mayor of Kannur Muslih Maathhathil accused the district of Panchayat of inactivity. “Give us too much and we will end this harassment of the dog street,” he said.
“The Panchayat District is in charge of the Animal Contraception (ABC) program. Like other local authorities, Kannur Corporation has already released £ 20 £ Lakh.
However, Mr. Manathil noted that the necessary steps were taken to capture violent stray dogs. District Panchayat is responsible for implementing the ABC program. His failure, however, led to an increase in the population of stray dogs, claimed.
