
A high-level UNICEF (UN Children’s Fund) delegation will visit the Kerala State Child Rights Commission on Monday in connection with the commission and UNICEF’s partnership in promoting the need to address non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among children in the state.
Raoul Bermejo, health specialist and NCD lead from UNICEF headquarters in New York, will lead the delegation that will visit the commission at 2.30 pm Vivek Virendra Singh, health specialist from UNICEF India; and Syam Sudheer Bandi, Communications Specialist, UNICEF Tamil Nadu and Kerala, accompanying him.
A function will be held at the Chief Minister’s Chamber where UNICEF will thank the commission for the leadership and work the commission has done in addressing NCDs affecting children.
UNICEF representatives and the commission will interact with children, MLAs and others at the Hyatt Regency at 4:00 p.m
The commission organized five meetings with children, parents, teachers, political leaders and MLAs on prevention and control of NCDs in children and submitted a detailed report.
Her work has received immense appreciation and support from UNICEF, commission chairman KV Manoj Kumar said in a statement.
