A truck carrying LPG cylinders overturned in Varanavasi near Ariyalur on Tuesday (November 11, 2025), triggering an explosion and fire.
According to sources, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle while passing a curve. The truck overturned and fell into a drain near the road, gas cylinders inside the vehicle exploded and caught fire. The driver Kanagaraj managed to jump out but sustained injuries. He was taken to Ariyalur Government Medical College Hospital for treatment.

A truck carrying a consignment from Tiruchi to Ariyalur was charred. The sound of exploding cylinders could be heard within a radius of about 2 km. The flames also caused panic among local residents.
After being notified, members of the Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the spot to bring the fire under control.
All vehicles from Thanjavur, Tiruchi and other places going to Ariyalur are diverted via V. Kaikatti. The Collector of Ariyaluru and the Superintendent of Police rushed to the spot.
