As the revised authorickshaw tariffs have entered into force in Bengalur since 1 August, several commuting was worried about drivers who refuse to work in the meter. While the government officially announced a hike, many people claim that this step is of low value if the recovery of meters does not improve on Earth.
According to the new fare structure, the announcement by the Office for Regional Transport (RTA) increased the basic fare from 30 to 36 GBP for the first two kilometers. In addition, the rate per kilometer was raised from 15 to 18 GBP.
Pradeep N., Resident Byappanahali, who commutes a day by car, said: “There is so much talk about the fare.
Madhav R., commuting from Rajajinagar, said: “The hike of the fare is unnecessary if the drivers do not follow the meter. I stopped expecting any action because it is the same story every time.
In response to these complaints, a higher officer from the traffic department said: “We understand the public concerns. Authorickshaw drivers must re -calibrate their fare meters according to revised rates. However, this process will not be completed, some drivers can continue to operate without measuring.
The Transport Department recently issued a directive that instructed all the Autorickshaws operating in Bengalur to calibrate its meters again to reflect the updated rates until October 31.
Meanwhile, Prakash N., the driver of the car, said, “Since the government gave us time, we soon calibrate our meters again. However, we are also concerned about fines for not using meters.”
