
The tourism department has set up a tourism facilitation cell to attract and promote new investments in the tourism sector, especially those arising from the recently held Global Tourism Summit in Tamil Nadu 2026, where 127 MoUs were signed, bringing in investments of Rs.22,795 crores.
An official press release here said the cell will have four members including officials from the Department of Tourism and Guidance Tamil Nadu (GTN). A member of the GTN will provide connections for the individual window gaps.
According to Tourism Minister R. Rajendran, the cell will also provide support to private investors and PPP partners; and identify new tourism markets, promotional strategies and investment opportunities. MoUs were signed in areas such as adventure tourism, sports and recreation, medical tourism, cable car, RV, mountain tourism, ariel tourism (helicopter), eco resort, coastal tourism, wellness and eco tourism.
