
Kuvempu University in collaboration with Kannada Development Authority and Anna University, Chennai will organize a three-day capacity building workshop on Kannada language data collection and linguistic annotation from March 9.
Prof. Sharath Ananthamurthy, vice-chancellor of the university, will inaugurate the program on Monday at the university’s Shankarghatta campus. Santosh Hangal, Secretary, Kannada Development Authority, AB Ramachandrappa, Member, KDA, Vijay Sundar Ram, Scientist, AU-KBC Research Centre; and others will participate in the program. The program will be chaired by M. Dattatreya, Chair of the Department of Studies and Research in English.
Meti Mallikarjuna, Professor of Linguistics, based at Sahyadri College, Shivamogga, which is also one of the organizers, said post-graduate students and scholars would participate in the workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to build capacity on Kannada data collection and linguistic annotation. Four experts from AU-KBC Research Center for Emerging Technology of Anna University will participate in the workshop and will train the participants, he added.
