The blind cricket tournament at Andhra Pradesh began on Monday on a large scale at the KVS sports park at Thummalagunta. Despite their lack of vision, players focused high on Victory Post. Six district teams from the whole state participate in the three -day tournament.
Participation in the opening ceremony, Junior Chamber International (JCI) Indian President of the International Commission of NB Harshavardhan Reddy, tennis player at national level, did not describe blindness as no obstacle to achieve perfection in sports.
He said, “Visually disabled individuals have immense potential not only in education and employment but also in sports. With the right leadership, training, resources and support of the government, they can compete and shine at international level.”
David John, President of the Criket Association for the Blind in Andhra Pradesh, was attended by I. Ajay Kumar Reddy, former captain of the National blind cricket team and Award Arjuna.
Mr. Reddy insisted that visually impaired are fully able to achieve their goal in all aspects and can bring laurels to the country.
The organizers expressed hope that such events would help visually contested their obstacles and achieve national and international platforms.
