A taxi driver was attacked on the KH road

A gang of armed men attacked a taxi driver in the middle of a busy road, triggering panic among road users, with the incident caught on CCTV cameras.

The incident took place on May 22 on Double Road in Wilson Garden police station limits and came to light after a video of the mugging went viral on social media.

According to police, the gang allegedly intercepted a taxi, blocked the vehicle on the road and dragged the driver out before assaulting him. The accused allegedly attacked the victim in the presence of a young woman who was sitting in a car. She was driven out and placed nearby when the accused carried out the attack.

The exact motive for the attack is not yet known.

Police said that although no formal complaint has been filed yet, officers rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and conducted an investigation. Investigators, who are taking the matter seriously, have started examining CCTV footage from KH Street and adjoining areas to identify the accused involved in the attack.

Police are also looking into the registration numbers of both the Uber cab and the vehicle allegedly used by the attackers as part of the ongoing investigation.
