Keral Health officials said they were waiting for confirmation of samples sent to state and national virological laboratories.
The woman received in the hospital in Perinthalmann in the Malappuram district in Kerala was suspected of infecting the Nipah virus.
However, the district doctors did not respond to the request for confirmation.
Sources said a 42 -year -old woman from Valanchery in Malappuram was admitted to a hospital with typical Nipah symptoms such as fever and convulsions.
