A special team to conduct a detailed investigation of Dharani transactions
The state government has decided to conduct a detailed inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the Dharani Integrated Land Records Management System, which was introduced by the previous Bharat Rashtra Samiti government.
The government has decided to form a special investigation team to scrutinize the operation of Dharani from the date the tender was floated on 29 October 2020 to the launch of the portal and its operation. The decision follows complaints about thousands of acres of land being blacklisted and land belonging to a privileged few being cleared under the previous government.
The State Cabinet, which met here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday, said the decision was taken after a thorough discussion on the issue to state the facts regarding the irregularities. “We want to find out what were the lapses and who was behind the end operations,” Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said while briefing the media after the meeting.
The government has already ordered a forensic audit by the Kerala Security Audit and Assurance Centre, which has piloted transactions in Siddipet and Medak districts, and the probe has been extended to the rest of the state. The government appointed Bhu Bharati to manage the portal, replacing Dharani, the National Information Centre, made changes in the software and reduced the number of modules from 32 to six. “The investigation team will be asked to examine every detail of Dharani including its operation and maintenance,” he said.
