The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will be held in all nine assembly constituencies in Cuddalore district from November 4 to December 5, said District Electoral Officer and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar.
The Collector, who chaired a consultative meeting with representatives of recognized political parties in the Collectorate on Wednesday, said the SIR, which was last adopted in January 2002, will be conducted to update the electoral rolls with January 1, 2026 as the cut-off date.
The pre-revision preparatory phase which commenced and will continue till November 3 has been reserved for the printing of Unique Enumeration Forms (EFs) and training of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant EROs (AEROs), followed by November 4 to December 2, 200254.
The draft list of voters will be published on December 9, 2025, and claims and objections will be received by January 8, 2026. The final list of voters will be published on February 7, 2026 after verification and approval by the Commission.
Booth level officers as part of SIR visited each house to guide the voters in filling the duplicate forms. If the house was locked, the forms would be dropped into the house and the polling station official would visit the house at least three times to collect the completed forms.
During the SIR, the voter does not have to submit any document with the completed forms. If any voter’s name is not linked with the SIR list, he/she will have to submit the self-attested documents notified by the Election Commission of India to the Election Registration Officer.
The clerk at the booth level will come again to collect the filled forms from the voters. While one of the two copies would be collected by the clerk from the voter, the voter would receive the receipt of the completed copy with a color photo of the voter in the second copy.
The draft voter list will be published based on information received from voters. After receipt of objections or possible corrections from aggrieved voters, the final list of voters will be published.
