Bengaluru’s Namma metro staff helped locate a six-year-old girl with her mother after the two got separated at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro station, Majestic, on Friday.
According to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the incident took place around 12.30 pm when the child lost contact with his mother amid the bustling crowd at the transfer station.
They were together at the Majestic station when they accidentally got separated while boarding the train. The mother realized that her daughter had stayed at the majestic station itself.
“An alert passenger spotted the girl alone and immediately handed her over to the metro security personnel at Majestic station,” said a senior official.
Upon receiving the information, station staff quickly alerted all dispatchers in the network to help locate the child’s mother. Within a short time, the mother was traced to the Mahakavi Kuvempu metro station.
“Due to good coordination between metro officials, security personnel and station dispatchers, the child was safely reunited with her mother at Majestic station. Although the girl was initially scared, our team immediately started efforts to trace the mother and ensure their reunion. Effective inter-departmental communication helped us resolve the situation early,” the official said.
Meanwhile, BMRCL officials also appreciated the alertness of the passenger who brought the child and helped the metro team handle the situation.
Majestic subway station is used by an average of around 65,000 commuters per day, making it the busiest interchange in the network connecting the Green and Purple Lines.
