A seven-year-old girl died after falling into a pond during a cleanliness drive in Kannur

A seven-year-old girl died after she accidentally fell into a pond while participating in a communal cleaning drive at Panunda in Eruvatty near Pinaraya on Sunday (October 11, 2026) morning.

The deceased was identified as Mirza, daughter of Ranjith and Mafeeda, residents of Panunda. She was a 2nd grade student.

The accident occurred around 7 am when residents were engaged in routine cleaning activities in the area. Mirza reportedly fell into a pond that had no water in it.

Although Mirza was taken to hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
