The Department of Studies (DoS) in Geography and the Center for Geo-Information Technology, University of Mysore jointly organized a seminar on ‘Youth and National Integration’ on Wednesday to commemorate Dr. Zakir Husain, the third President of India and appreciated his contribution to nation building and education.
Mrs. Savitha MK, Registrar, University of Mysore inaugurated the seminar and emphasized the need to educate the students about the life and philosophy of great national leaders.
The main speech was delivered by prof. Syed Akheel Ahmed, former Vice-Chancellor of Yenepoya University, Mangaluru, who emphasized the importance of value-based education in promoting national harmony.
Mr. Keshav HR, industrialist and former district governor of Rotary Mysuru spoke about the key role of youth in nation building and social services.
The seminar was chaired by prof. B. Chandrashekara, Chairman, DoS in Geography. Prof. were present. Ramu, Visiting Professor, DoS in Geography, MGM, and Prof. P. Jayashree, Course Coordinator, Center for Geo-Information Technology, DoS in Geography, University of Mysore.
Resource workers shared insights on Gandhian philosophy, national values and the importance of education in fostering unity among India’s diverse communities. The seminar ended on a meaningful note that reinforced the importance of youth engagement, value-based education and national integration in shaping a strong and inclusive India, a ministry press release said.
