The cabinet on Wednesday decided to launch a new program for women’s safety.
Women, including trans women, from poor families who are not beneficiaries of social welfare programs will be provided with monthly financial assistance under this program.
Women between the ages of 35 and 60 who are not in receipt of any social security pension and are Antyodaya Anna Yojana (Yellow Card) and Priority Household (PHH) (Pink Card) holders will be allowed ₹1,000 each as women’s pension.
As many as 31.34 million women will benefit from this scheme. The government will have an expenditure of Rs 3,800 crore annually on this programme.
