A rioter with a criminal record was stabbed to death in Pahadishareef late Saturday night in what police believe could be a revenge attack linked to an earlier murder.
The victim, 32-year-old Shaik Amair, a resident of Chintalmet in Rajendranagar, was allegedly attacked by a group led by Ahmed, a relative of Mubarak Sigar, who was murdered two years ago. Amair was named as an accused in the case.
According to the police, Amair came to a hotel in Chandrayangutta on Saturday evening to discuss certain matters. Soon after, a group of men took him to a nearby lane where he was stabbed several times. He died of his injuries on the spot, Pahadishareef police said.
Police records show that Amair was arrested and remanded in custody for the murder of Mubarak Sigar, reported in January 2024. He was later released on bail.
