Amid the pandemonium that eventually led to an indefinite adjournment, the monthly meeting of the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) passed a resolution seeking the creation of the Greater Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, even as the proposal to bifurcate the HDMC to facilitate the creation of a municipal corporation for Dharwad is awaiting approval from the Governor.
Two years ago, the municipal council discussed in detail the proposal to split the municipal corporation to form a new municipal corporation for Dharwad and subsequently passed the resolution into effect.
