T20 World Cup Semi Final India vs England Updates
The opener picked up where he left off against the West Indies, taking on Jofra Archer in the very first over, getting off the mark with a boundary followed by a six. Samson initially struggled to find his timing and hit the ball with the tip of the bat on several occasions. He even got a reprieve in the 15th in the third period when he lofted Archer towards Harry Brook at mid-wicket, only for the England captain to throw away a direct chance.
Two balls later, Samson rubbed salt into England’s wounds when he hit Archer for a colossal maximum of 88 meters over deep mid-wicket and later finished over the boundary to third man.
The 31-year-old reached his 30 in just 13 balls and brought up his half-century in just 26 deliveries by smashing Liam Dawson for a maximum at long-off. Samson found excellent support at the other end from Ishan Kishan (39 off 18) as the duo put together a massive 97-run stand off 45 balls for the second wicket to put India firmly in control.
After Kishan’s dismissal to Adil Rashid, Samson slowed down briefly but was soon back to his best flow during Archer’s second spell, smashing him for sixes to approach his milestone. However, he was eventually dismissed for 89 and returned to the pavilion to rapturous applause from the crowd.
