A procession of 11 white silk decorated umbrellas, meant for the annual Brahmotsavam at the Tirupati Venkatachalapathi temple in Tirumala, started from the Chenna Kesava Perumal temple at the flower bazaar on Sunday.

The umbrella procession was flagged off by Sri Raghuvarendra Swami of Sri Bheemanna Ghatte Math and RR Gopaljee of Hindu Dharmartha Samithi. The umbrellas will reach Tirumala on September 18 for the Garuda Sevai after devotees in various areas offered them special pujas, a press release said.
