Congress party workers, led by its women’s wing, launched a poster campaign in Kalaburagi town on Wednesday by putting up posters in favor of Rural Development and Panchayat Department Minister Priyank Kharge in buses, autorickshaws and public places with the quote “Those who love the Constitution will love the nation”.
This comes after the ‘I Love RSS’ poster campaign was launched by RSS supporters in some parts of the state on Tuesday.
Posters depicting the quotes “Those who love the Constitution will love the nation” and “Those who love the nation will love the people of the nation” with a picture of Priyank Kharge as well as photographs of the title page of the Indian Constitution, Buddha, Basaveshwara and Dr. BR Ambedkar.
Speaking to presspersons after putting up posters supporting Mr. Kharge’s RSS stand across the city, Congress Women’s wing district president Renuka Singhe said that the minister (Mr. Priyank Kharge) did not demand a total ban on the RSS; rather, he insisted on banning her from working in government institutions. Expressing concern, Ms. Singhe said the RSS supporters have shown their vile and insidious side which poses a serious threat to the future of the country.
She noted that the RSS had been banned three times in the past (1948, 1975 and 1992); in 1948 the then Home Minister Sardar vallabh Bhai Patel issued a government notification banning the RSS after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi; and in 1975, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi banned the RSS during the Emergency, and in 1992, former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao banned the RSS and other organizations after the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
As a cabinet minister, Mr. Kharge was tasked with protecting the interests of the people and as a minister it was his right and duty to write hundreds of letters on the matter.
The stand to curb RSS activities is not just Mr. Kharg, six core residents of Karnataka will be writing letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding a ban on RSS. There is a ban on RSS in the law, if the constitution is to be followed then RSS must be banned, he opines.
