
Unknown Miscreants allegedly mixed a poisonous substance with drinking water at a lower elementary school in Huvinakone in Hosanagar Taluk, so teachers, parents and villagers shocked. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the State Commission of Karnataka for the protection of children’s rights seriously took the incident.
The incident came to light on Thursday when the Deep school cook brought water from one of the two tanks in the school complex. She felt that drinking water was colored and its scent, unbearable. The chef informed the pedagogical staff to call for the offices of the committee for the development and monitoring of the school, parents and higher officers of the School Education Department.
When they opened the tank, they noticed that the water had stained, and also sensed the pungent smell. When they looked around, the staff reportedly found a bottle thrown near the tank and noticed that the liquid in the bottle also the same. Later B. Ravi Kumar, teacher at school, filed a complaint against the Police Hosanagar. The police registered the case according to Section 123 BNS, which is engaged in causing poison injury.
The school has two tanks for storing drinking water. Previously, during the day, the chef pulled drinking water from one of the tanks and cooked milk for children. When she tried to bring water from the second tank to prepare lunch, she noticed contamination.
However, as a preventive measure, school staff took children to the Hosanagar government hospital. Nataraj, a district health officer of Health Shivamogg, said Hindu that he visited the hospital on Thursday and found that all children were healthy. “The children were brought to the hospital as a preventive measure. All of them were healthy and normal. They did not consume the water consumed,” he said.
Main Minister Siddaramaiah took a serious remark about this issue and said that the government seriously took the problem to mix pesticides with drinking water. “The crime that committed the evil intention to cause children’s death is no less than any terrorist law. He avoided the incident for alert cooking at school. I appreciate the kitchen staff for their early response.
The State Commission of Karnataka for the protection of the child’s rights took this case and decided to register Suo-Motu. SHASHIDHAR KOSAMBE, a member of the Commission, told the Hindes that the Commission would take this problem seriously. “Shivamogg’s leaders should investigate the case and arrest those who committed a crime,” he said.
When he was contacted by telephone, the deputy commissioner of Shivamogg Gurudatt Hedgade said the police had seriously taken about the case. “The police have books a case of accusation of Poisosing Drinking Water because it concerns school children. The police do their job. We will not reveal further information from now on because the investigation is continuing,” he said.
