A POCSO court sentenced a man to 15 years for raping a minor in West Godavari

The Bhimavaram POCSO court on Tuesday sentenced 24-year-old N. Bhadrachalam to 15 years in prison for the rape and abduction of a 15-year-old girl in Bhimavaram police division in West Godavari district in 2021.

In an official statement, West Godavari SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi said, “On April 20, 2021, Bhadrachalam abducted a girl from her house when she was alone and took her away on his two-wheeler. The girl was rescued four days later during a search operation.”

The case was registered on the complaint of a girl who alleged that she was raped by Bhadrachalam, the SP said.

Bhimavaram POCSO Court Judge B. Lakshminarayana sentenced Bhadrachalam to 15 years in prison on various charges, including rape and kidnapping, Mr Nayeem Asmi said. The investigation was led by Bhimavaram DSP Raghuveer Vishnu.
