A plastic collection and segregation unit in an industrial area at Kandikkal, Thalassery was completely destroyed in a fire that broke out on Saturday (December 20, 2025) afternoon. No casualties were reported.
The fire occurred at City Plastic, a facility employing several workers. Fire and Rescue Service units from Thalassery, Panur, Mahe and Kuthuparamba rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after hours of effort.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Thalassery police, residents and volunteers joined the firefighting and rescue operations.
Thalassery Tahsildar, disaster management officials, village officer and local elected representatives reached the spot and coordinated relief and follow-up.
