In moving the modernization of the first cinematography and sound recordings and engineering of polytechnics in the country is located in Hesaraghatta, Minister of Higher Education MC Sudhakar decided to create a committee of experienced technical experts from the film industry.
The cinematography and sound recording course and engineering were originally introduced in 1943 in the Sri Jayacamarajendra Polytechnic government as a result of the foresight of M.Visvaraya. In 1996, this course was renamed and moved to Hesaraghatta, where it was extended to 25 hectares because the government film and television institute with the help of a world bank.
In recent years there has been a decrease in the enrollment of students, which caused Minister Dr. Sudhakara to personally visit and review the current state of the institute on Monday. During his visit, he observed the lack of technical infrastructure and ordered officials to give shortcomings and present a report that would facilitate immediate orders of modern technological equipment.
Currently, The Film and TV Institute offers only two diploma courses, namely sound engineering and cinematography. The Minister also discussed the introduction of additional courses. He proposed to launch programs based on one roof, including acting, costume design, sound recording, cinematography and makeup, along with artificial intelligence and gaming courses to improve career oriented education.
In this respect, he announced the creation of a committee composed of seasoned experts from different areas of the film industry to strengthen and develop the institute more efficiently.
The Minister cooperated directly with members of the faculty and students and listened to their complaints. He ordered officials to take urgent steps, including the provision of transport facilities for students and hostel equipment with modern technological tools.
Museum initiative
As it is an educational institution before independence, it contains valuable old cameras and audio recording equipment. Although these items are no longer useful for current needs, the Minister has expressed interest in their preservation and establishment of a specialized museum that shows them.
After seeing different types of vintage cameras and sound equipment, he ordered officials to clean, catalog and report on all items held by the institute.
