A new Tamil Nadu Assembly and Secretariat complex will come up at Pattinapakkam

The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued an order giving in-principle approval to start the process of construction of a new building complex comprising the Legislative Assembly and Secretariat, equipped with modern facilities, at Pattinapakkam (Foreshore Estate) in Chennai on a total area of 25.55 acres.
The state government has also directed the public works department to submit a detailed project report (DPR) along with estimates within three months.
On 3 September, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced in the Assembly the state government’s plan to construct a new integrated secretariat complex in Chennai, spread over 20 lakh square feet, at an estimated cost of ₹1,200 crore. Currently, the Legislative Assembly and Secretariat of Tamil Nadu function in the historic Fort St. campus. George.
According to the GO issued by the Public Ministry, based on the notification of the Chief Minister, the state government has identified 21.76 acres of land held by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board, 0.93 acres of land held by the Greater Chennai Corporation, 1.73 acres of land by the Government Board of Revenue Department and 1.13 acres of land in Fore Tamil Estate in Nadu This land falls under Mylapore city.

Committees were formed
The state government has also set up three committees – a committee to invite expressions of interest and finalize an architectural consultancy firm; a committee to finalize construction drawings and designs at the preliminary design stage; and a commission to complete construction drawings and designs in the final design phase, the order said.
The State Government has already received No Objection Certificates through letters from the Chief Executive Officer, Tamil Nadu Housing Board; Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation; and District Collector, Chennai, for land use.
