A 37-year-old woman allegedly hanged two of her children to death before taking her own life on January 25 at Koppa village in Periyapatna taluk.
According to Mysuru District Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi, the deceased Hemalatha is suspected to have taken the extreme step following disagreements with her husband.
Police said she called her brother earlier in the morning to talk about her marital problems. When she did not respond to his calls about an hour later, he rushed to her home and found Hemalatha and her two children — a 15-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy — dead.
The woman’s eldest daughter, aged around 16, who was also allegedly hanged, survived after she managed to loosen the noose and escape, police added. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
