R Ashwin sent fans into a frenzy on social media with a cryptic post that many speculated was meant for India’s star batsman Virat Kohli following his failure in the Adelaide ODI against Australia. Kohli was dismissed for a four-ball duck as his final bow at one of his favorite venues ended on a sour note.
India went on to score 264 runs, which Australia caught up with by two wickets. Fans wondered if this was the end of the road for Kohli after deciding to pick up the gloves on the way back to the pavilion.
After the Adelaide ODI was over, Ashwin posted a mysterious photo which was basically the logo of the famous sportswear brand Nike. However, the iconic ‘Just Do It’ slogan was altered by the former Indian spinner and the Nike branding featured the Indian flag. Courtesy: Ashwin X
Ashwin’s post said, “Let it go” leaving fans wondering if the message was for Kohli. Most of the fans asked Ashwin if there is news for the star batter. You can see some of the reactions below:
Ashwin is yet to comment on that I want the tweet to actually mean as it is fan speculation on social media at this point.
Kohli has the backing of the BCCI
Before the Australian tour, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar said it would be silly to put Kohli and Rohit Sharma on trial for all matches. Agarkar said both men would be judged for their performances but not judged.
“It will be silly to judge them for every game. Once they start playing, they will be judged but not judged,” Agarkar said at the ‘NDTV World Summit’.
“It doesn’t mean that if they don’t get runs in Australia they will be dropped and similarly if they score three tons in Australia they will be selected for the 2027 World Cup,” the former pacer said.
India will play the final ODI in Sydney on Saturday, October 25.
