A 33 -year -old man was arrested on Sunday by the Police Satuvachari for threatening income officials to prevent illegal sand mining in the Palalar River.
The arrested person was identified as N. Perumal, a native of Vellor’s Old Town. Together with a small gang, Perumal has been involved in illegal sand mining in the dry bed of the river in recent weeks.
The initial investigation revealed that the vellore SP N. Mathivanan created special teams to perform surprising checks at key intersections. In accordance with the local police, a team of income officials near Satuvachari along the river was a surprising check. They found that the gang, led by Perumal, was a mining sand.
When they saw officials, many of them fled from the place except perumal. He immediately reached him and the police rounded it, but threatened them with terrible consequences.
