A Fast Track Mahila Court in Namakkal has sentenced a 27-year-old wage laborer to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl near Namagiripettai in the district.
Accused Vasanth was arrested based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s parents with the Namagiripettai police on 29 December 2019. A case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO). After a trial, Judge T. Munusamy found him guilty on Tuesday (April 28, 2026) and sentenced him to 20 years in prison. The court also imposed a fine of ₹4,000.
