A man ends his life after killing his son in Prakasam district

A 54-year-old man allegedly killed his son on Wednesday before ending his life at their home in Mittameedipalli village of Ardhaveedu mandal in Prakasam district.

According to the police, Jaheed Saheb has reportedly not gone anywhere for the past two years due to illness. He has two sons and a daughter. While the elder son was working in Mumbai, the younger son Jawed Bhasha (25) was jobless. His daughter is married and settled in Cumbum.

Meanwhile, there were frequent arguments between the father and son because the latter was addicted to alcohol, police said. On Wednesday morning, Jaheed allegedly hit Javed on the head with a bat while he was sleeping in bed, resulting in his death.

Overcome with panic over the death of his son, Jaheed reportedly hanged himself inside the house and ended his life. His wife, who had gone to the farm for agricultural work, was informed about the incident by neighbors. She took both her husband and son to Cumbum PHC where doctors declared them brought dead.

The police have registered a case and an investigation is underway.
