A male tiger, Explorer, attacked two buffaloes in Kakinada district

A male Explorer tiger allegedly attacked two buffaloes at Avelthi village in Sankavaram mandal of Kakinada district on Thursday evening.

The tiger, which crossed the Godavari river about a week ago, entered Kakinada district from Rajavommangi in Polavaram district, where it was spotted by forest officials on Thursday evening.

In an official statement issued on Friday, Kakinada District Forest Officer N. Ramachandra Rao said that local residents had reported that a tiger had attacked cattle on Thursday evening. “One buffalo died and another survived the attack,” he said.

“Our tiger tracking teams will rush to the spot where it attacked the cattle and intensify monitoring to alert people about its movement,” Mr. Ramachandra Rao said.

The tiger has taken the same route twice since February. He was first silenced at Kurmapuram in the district of Dr. BR Ambedkar Konaseema in February and later released.
