A joint survey begins to map the mangroves outside the reserve forests at Konaseema

Forest and revenue department officials will begin a joint survey to identify the mangrove forest cover along the banks of the Godavari river in Dr. district. BR Ambedkar Konaseema. The survey is aimed at identifying the mangroves outside the forest forest and the forest department.

Responding to the state government’s order, District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar on Tuesday directed officials to complete the joint survey by June 10.

District Forest Officer MV Prasada Rao claimed that the mangroves of more than 4,000 hectares are outside the reserve forests in the district and do not come under the purview of the forest department.

The forest department is likely to come up with an action plan to protect mangroves outside the forest stands, he added.
