The government wants to ensure that further BCCI elections are made in accordance with the newly adopted National Sport Administration Act, 2025. New Law, applicable to all National Sports Federations In the country, including BCCi, it was handed over in parliament at the beginning of this week, although it will only come into force after the government has issued an official announcement.
With the Council Council Control of Criquets in India (BCCI) due in September, Sports ministry will now have to speed up this process It consists of three key committees.
Since 2016, BCCI has been operating on the recommendation of the Lodha Committee, which was imposed on the Supreme Court. However, the National Sport Administration Act introduces a new framework based on three main pillars: the National Sports Council, the National Sports Tribunal and the National Electoral Election Panel.
The National Sports Council will be responsible for granting recognition to all sports authorities in the country, while the National Sports Tribunal will be decided by disputes between federations. There is a provision against the tribunal decision, but it must be done within 15 days before the Indian court. The National Commission for the Sports Election Commission will cooperate with the Indian Election Commission to conduct public opinion polls for all national sports federations, including BCCi.
The Sports Ministry eager for the first introduced these three committees, which ensures that the elections of all NSF are held under the provisions of the New Testament, while BCCI surveys are approaching rapidly.
The law requires that the executive body of the sports federation must not exceed 15 members and must include at least two athletes, two representatives of the athlete commission and four women. With regard to India’s ambitions in 2030 and Olympic Games in 2036, India’s great ambitions are offered, and the act also allows some relaxation. The age ceiling has been modified: no individual may be more than 70 years old at the last date of the nomination. However, a person between the ages of 70 and 75 may still attack elections or look for a nomination if permitted according to international charters, status and laws.
President Bcci Roger Binny, who reached 70 years in July, was initially expected to retreat aside. However, he was allowed to continue until the next elections in September.
