The 40 -year -old Russian woman, Nina Kutina, was rescued from a distant cave in Ratirtha Hills, Kumta Taluk, Uttara Kannada district, after she lived for almost two weeks in almost two weeks. Her two young children aged six and four were also saved.
According to the PTI report, Kutina, also known as Mohi, she set out from Russia to India to a business visa and found her way to the sacred coastal city of Gokarna via Goa, deeply drawn by Hinduism and Indian spiritual traditions.
Mohi’s home in a distant cave
Mohi and her two children, Preya (6) and Ama (4), lived for almost two weeks in complete separation. They took the shelter inside a natural cave surrounded by thick forests and steep slopes. Inside, Rudra kept an idol and spent her days in “loan” and meditation, looking for spiritual peace in the middle of nature. Her only companions were her two little children, the PTI report.
The small family was rescued after police officials saw clothes hanging in front of the cave during a routine patrol on Friday after a recent landslide.
The circular police inspector Sridhar and his team of officers went through the thick shrubs of Ramatirth and found Mohi and her two children in the cave.
Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police M Narayan, spoke with PTI on Saturday, said: “Our patrol team saw Saree and other clothes hanging after drying in front of the cave on the Ramatirth hill.
He added, “It was quite surprising how she and her children survived in the woods and what they ate. Fortunately, nothing was undesirable in the forest during their time.”
Indian visa expired in 2017
The police also said that Mohi may have reached the GOA cave. Her visa expired in 2017, but it was not clear how long she had lived in India.
SP Narayana also said: “We arranged her stay in Ashram, operated by Sadhvi. We started a process on how to take her to Bengalur from Gokarn and start the deportation process.”
With the help of the local NGO, the Russian embassy was contacted and the formalities were moved to deport it.
