Former Assistant Warden and Security Officer (AVSO) of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and complainant in the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Parakamani temple theft case, Y. Satish Kumar, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on the railway tracks at Komali village near Tadipatri on Friday morning.
Mr. Satish Kumar caught CV Ravi Kumar stealing money while counting hundi collections and later reached a compromise with accused Ravi Kumar in Lok Adalat which resulted in disposal of the case. However, after the NDA came to power in 2024, the ‘parakamani’ case resurfaced on a petition in the high court. The court ordered a CID probe into the incident and asked them to submit findings by December 2, 2025.
Mr. Satish Kumar, a native of Pathikonda in Kurnool District and attached to the Armed Reserve Wing of the State Police, was recently promoted and posted as Inspector of Police, Guntakal Government Railway Police (GRP).
Police said, “Mr. Satish Kumar was traveling from Guntakal to Tirupati in the Rayalaseema Express. The incident probably took place around 2:00 am. He might have fallen from the moving train and his face might have hit the ground first.”
A railway worker noticed the body in the morning and informed the police. He was identified as Satish Kumar on the basis of the identity card found on the deceased. “We are yet to ascertain the cause of death. Investigation is on,” Gooty GRP inspector Ajay Kumar said.
In April 2023 Mr. Satish Kumar who was then TTD AVSO caught Ravi Kumar stealing $900 while counting the hundi collections in ”parakamani”. In May of the same year, vigilance officials filed a charge sheet and even as the case continued, accused Ravi Kumar offered to give his property to the TTD in exchange for the case against him being withdrawn. Satish Kumar agreed to settle before the Lok Adalat on 9 September 2023 and the case was settled and Ravi Kumar was acquitted.
