A fishing boat was on fire near Feroke

A fishing boat moored under the old Feroke Bridge caught fire in the early hours of Thursday (October 29, 2026), sparking safety concerns among residents. The incident, which occurred while workers were off site, is believed to have originated in the boat’s engine and fuel tank.

According to the initial assessment of the rescuers, the fire started in the engine compartment before quickly spreading to other parts. The quick response of rescuers helped avert a major disaster. Two officers waded into the river with ropes, swam to the boat, secured it safely and assisted the teams in pulling the vessel closer to shore.

Firefighters then pumped out water to completely extinguish the flames. The rescuer said that the fire was caused by a technical fault in the ship’s engine. He added that the exact cause of the fire will be investigated.
