A fire broke out at a private financial facility in Sasthamangalam, Thiruvananthapuram, during the early hours of Monday.
The incident took place around 5:45 am on the second floor of the three-story building. Security personnel first noticed smoke rising from the premises and immediately alerted the police.
It took fire crews almost two hours to extinguish the blaze and avert a major disaster in the busy business area. No casualties are reported in the incident.
The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. However, preliminary assessments indicate that a short circuit in the inverter system may have triggered the accident.
